Drenched, squelched, wrung out to dry-
In my heart and mind, I just want to cry.
I look out at soggy rain-spattered ground-
Seeking solace but none is found.
Just for a moment I lift up my eyes-
Seeking God’s will amidst heavy sighs.
Birds at my feeder come and they go-
Bright spots of color above and below.
May my heart spring anew with bounteous praise-
May your words flow through me the rest of my days.
