As 2025 Comes to a close, I want to remember the highs and the lows. The year started out with my signing with Year of the Book Publisher to publish my book- Observations at the Bird Feeder. What an exciting time!
I was able to share my book with others at conferences and festivals. But, then in May, amidst all of this, my husband and I found out he has stage 4 kidney disease, afib and MCI. After his hip replacement in June, then the Watchman procedure in August, plus another family member dealing with breast cancer, we have had to learn how to truly depend upon the Lord for guidance, healing and hope.
Then right before Christmas, our grand dog Norman passed away. The last day I saw him as he lay near his people “Mom”, he saw me and wagged his tail as he struggled to stand and come over to greet me. Norman has always shown love in action with his gentle spirit and loving ways to all. We are all still dealing with his loss. I pray I can show the same love and loyalty and caring spirit that Norman embodied.

So, as I look ahead to whatever God has planned for me and my family, I realize I must truly picture myself climbing up onto my heavenly Father’s lap and resting in Him. This year continues to be a testing time, and I pray that wherever each of you are, that you know you can indeed rest in the Lord in the good and the bad times. He walks with us. In my historical novels, that is a theme my characters need to learn and remember. It is never easy, but we know Jesus has won the victory for us.
Happy New Year 2026 Everyone!
Hi Janet, Don’t know if you remember me. I am the ESL teacher from IU28 and Indiana area SD. I wish your family the best during these hard times. I have written a children’s picture book you may enjoy reading to your grandkids. I published it myself here in Indiana. Would love to send it to you as a gift. If you are interested, send me a private answer with your address. Thanks for all of your kindness.
